Airport Company South Africa (ACSA) has awarded a contract for the installation of a Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) network at the Cape Town International Airport, which it manages.
The contract, awarded to EADS Secure Networks, is the first TETRA contract for an airport in South Africa and it marks the entrance of TETRA in the region.
In addition, further Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) networks should be deployed in other South African airports as traffic is predicted to increase with the upcoming 2010 Football World Cup.
