Police working on London’s Underground have been issued with Sepura Tetra radios for the first time, enabling the British Transport Police to communicate anywhere on the sprawling subterranean rail network.
The introduction of the Sepura radios follows the roll-out of the Airwave Network on every part of the ‘Tube’, which is the world’s largest metro service.
Sepura radios are already used by the City of London Police, Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service, allowing the different emergency services to communicate with each other.
The London Underground has 270 stations and 400 kilometres of track. It also serves counties surrounding Greater London - Essex, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
