Security has tightened in the Manila suburb of Quezon City after three bombs were discovered in various public locations this week.
A bomb exploded on Sunday (28 June) at the Office of the Ombudsman, damaging parts of a water treatment tank, some glass windows on the second floor, and a shuttle bus used by employees.
Two bombs were discovered shortly after the blast at the compound of the Department of Agriculture and One Burgendy Plaza. All were located within Quezon City, the most populous city in the Philippines.
The office of the Ombudsman building received another bomb threat yesterday (Wednesday July 1). A bomb squad searched the building for an hour but did not find any explosive devices. The building was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Police officers are now stationed at the Department of Agriculture. The police also heightened security in other government offices in the city, according to Chief Superintendent Elmo San Diego.
