Singapore’s Public Transport Security Committee (PTSC) has launched a new web site, the first such youth outreach portal in the city state, for students to access public transport security-related information.
The web site (www.safejourney.sg) provides tips on how students can help Singapore engage the fight against terrorism through maintaining vigilance.
Jeremy Yap, Group Director (Vehicle and Transit Licensing) of Land Transport Authority (LTA) said: “Each year, there are about 300,000 upper primary and lower secondary students.”
“They are at an age where many begin to use public transport to get around. Safejourney.sg is a fun and exciting way to engage young Singaporeans to be active citizens as our eyes and ears on the ground, to help keep public transport safe.”
The web site, he said, provides an opportunity to share experience drawn from other countries which have dealt with terrorist attacks to “sensitise our youth and instill vigilance from a young age.”
