Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) has become the recipient of the one millionth TETRA terminal ever shipped by Motorola, when it ordered a range of TETRA devices from the company after a comprehensive interoperability test.
The shipment, the largest for Motorola in the Middle East and North Africa, follows a number of contracts the company has been awarded across this region and where the market for emergency communications is in rapid growth.
Similar growth rate is also recorded in Asia Pacific, where over 60,000 Motorola TETRA radios were in use by various agencies in China to support the 2008 Olympics Games. The company is also poised to ship terminals for three airports in India.
“We would not be able to meet the one million milestone with our TETRA products if we did not include real-life scenarios as part of the development process including the needs, for example, of firefighters in situations such as burning buildings.” comments Jens Kristiansen, vice president, Motorola Government & Public Safety, Global Tetra Products. “We ensure that communication is always ultra reliable and that the devices are designed specifically to support emotional and physical states of the users.”
After shipping its first TETRA terminal in the late 1990s, Motorola´s TETRA solutions are now in use in over 85 countries worldwide. The company sees the delivery of its one millionth terminal as reflection of the rapid increase in the TETRA market in recent years.
