China holds disaster response drills on quake anniversary

Emergency response drills were held across China on Tuesday morning, as the country marks the first anniversary of the devastating Sichuan earthquake.

One of such drills took place at the national training base for seismic rescue in Beijing. The exercise included evacuation of people, search and rescue and transfer of the injured.

The nationwide drills aim to enhance people’s knowledge of and emergency response to natural disasters like a massive earthquake.
